People have asked why the name Lost was chosen for what we have been doing between the various blogs we have run and closed to the choice for the agency name and other upcoming projects we have in motion and the answer is complex but in an effort to simplify things a break down of key aspects is needed and that was the purpose of this blog entry.

So to start simply what does Lost mean as a concept: it started more out of frustration than anything, agents and diary services are a lot more common now than when our creative director and head of makeup JamesC started (a name that evolved thanks in part to a friend in the USA for his makeup work), the problem was despite promises of exclusivity or curating artists with a view to building with you it was becoming a case of handing over contacts, resources and information to someone else who would then use that to build a roster of their own and bypass him to put others in place citing fairness and giving newer a chance with the occasional “you should be grateful” when offered positions Under new artists.

With an impressive CV of work, all be it not A list but certainly commercial, there are limited avenues that can be pursued and that is OK, sometimes you need to move in a different direction and with the added issues of domestic problems, it becomes more of a necessity to think outside the box.

For us being Lost is less about not having a sense of where we are but having the opportunity to find something new and create a path that maybe hasn’t been explored in full.

As we progress The Lost Agency and expand the current slate, the option is there to reopen older projects and we will consider that for marketing purposes, we want people to see that just because their isn’t a place out there for you in the mainstream doesn’t mean you can’t find a way to make things work and be positive about your art form and stand out in a sea of other people. A firm believer in the only competition is yourself The Lost is a chance to focus on creating rather than competing and bringing a new style of work to the market and building something new.
